Health Action Team 2018 - 2019
The partnership between the HWCDSB and Public Health Services, allows for a Public Health Nurse (PHN) to be present in all equal opportunity schools. In these schools, Public Health Nurses provide comprehensive school health.
In some schools, this might involve creating a Health Action Team (H.A.T. Team) consisting of interested students and one or more Teacher Champions. They assess the health needs of the school, create an action plan, implement the plan, and then evaluate. Comprehensive School Health includes students, school staff, parents, and the community.

The Health Action Team consists of students spanning several grades.
This year, we have a representation of students from Grades 4 to 7.
"Power Down and Play" is the HAT Team's first initiative to promote healthy lifestyles.
